The Labyrinth
I travel the lengths of the walls
To reach my destination.
I’ve been trapped here since birth,
And I’ve yet to find a clue.
How can it be, throughout my duration,
I’ve never seen a bird?
Oh where is the sword of Saul?
I wish to be done with this view.
Pretty soon it will be June,
And once again I will test my worth:
The sun will shine in damnation
And determine my fate for us all.
Why was I given this obligation?
When I was young it was not my concern.
Nothing serves me on this arid salt,
Especially the things I once knew.
Is this where glorious angels fall?
Is this how mankind grew?
Forced to live in fate’s forgotten halls,
A home of stony tissue?
Rounding another corner, by my observation,
Is that a holy exit or my glorious salvation?!
Getting closer I find it’s just an aperture,
But on the floor bleeding lies my body in the dirt.
